Boston Shakers

Boston shakers — two-piece shaking tins in tin-on-tin and tin-on-glass pairs, weighted and unweighted.

How to choose

  • Tin-on-tin or tin-on-glass — Two tins seal well and will not break. A glass half lets you see the drink and is heavier in the hand.
  • Weighted or unweighted — A weighted small tin is easier to seat and to break open. Unweighted tins are lighter and cost less.
  • Capacity — 28 oz and 18 oz is the standard pairing. Smaller sets exist for making one drink at a time.
  • No built-in strainer — A Boston shaker strains through a separate Hawthorne strainer. Check whether one is in the box.
